This is an orchid that I bought Annie several months ago. Due to circumstances that were largely out of her control, she was unable to tend to it for quite some time. Now it is malnourished, the leaves are wilting, the flowers have died and refuse to bloom again, and its life expectency is uncertain
It is also a metaphor.

Oh man, orchids are impossible to keep alive! I hope they're not metaphors because if they are you better just lock me up right now before I go all psycho killer.
Like so many things, all the orchid needs is some bright, indirect light, a little fertilizer, and some tender loving care. I do this for a living.
