Dubious

Dubious, originally uploaded by Breathe in Digital.

This is my first attempt at a serious self portrait. Made some lighting mistakes, so this is the only photo of the night that I think really works. Looks pretty good on black.

The phenomenal Cammila helped me out with posing and with hitting the remote shutter trigger for me, and without her I don't think I would have gotten a good one for the night. Thanks!

If you haven't noticed, for the last two weeks I've had shots up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm going to try hard to keep to this routine throughout the summer (don't know about when the semester starts), so put it in your calendars boys and girls, and keep checking back!

News!

The head of the up and coming style and fashion web site, Enamor Magazine, has chosen two of my shots of Cammila to create a banner for their new blog. Please keep an eye on their site as it gets more developed and blooms into something awesome!

Down on the Farm

Milky Pastels, originally uploaded by Breathe in Digital.

So as many of my friends here know, I'm a manny. At least during the summer, that is. What you may not know is that I basically work on a farm, this year more than ever. The boys are active in 4H this year, and one of them is raising steers. This is one of them: the feisty one.

Now the horses have always been there, and they have a lot of character. This one (can't remember his name) is super curious and wanted to know what we were doing in the chicken coop (taking pictures of rabbits was the answer, another 4H project).

Fun day.

The Showdown

The Gamesman, originally uploaded by Breathe in Digital.

These are two more shots from the family get-together on Saturday. Noah, my oldest nephew, is above, and Hannah, my second oldest niece, is below. They were locked in battle using the time honored tradition of checkers as their means for dominance.

Slide!

This is another shot from the engagement set I did with Sam and Jenny. I've gotten some good feedback on this one on Flickr and from various friends who've stumbled across it there, so I thought I'd make it public.

My goal for this one was to give it more of a pastel look and feel as opposed to the bright and bold colors I usually go for. I think the effect was pretty nice.

The Billiards Phantom

The Billiars Phantom, originally uploaded by Breathe in Digital.

I think it was my brother, Nathan, who first really taught me to play pool. I remember going to UofM for siblings weekend in 4th or 5th grade, heading to the pool hall at the student union, and learning about angles how not to destroy the ball every time I went for a shot.

So I was at my parents' house this past weekend because my grandma was back in town. As is the habit during just about every get-together at this house, most of the time is spent by the males playing billiards in the basement. So many years later, one thing is apparent: my brother isn't really that good. He's better than me, mind you, but . . . well, my dad (in the background of this shot) is the real shark. Take a closer look at this picture. Notice how the cue ball is in the air (all the way on the right)? That was not intentional.

At least you don't have to be good at pool to look cool playing it.

Engagement at EMU

Engagement at EMU, originally uploaded by Breathe in Digital.

My friends Sam and Jenny have been engaged for a little while now, but the planning phase of their wedding is in full swing. That means I got to be their engagement photographer! Practically free for them, and the experience gave me a lot of time to play with lighting setups. I think it was mutually beneficial.

This is just one of many, many photos taken. You can see two more on my Flickr site if you click on the photo and view the set "Sam and Jenny." I'll most likely have one more post from this shoot later on.
